I did some heavy reading in the last few days.
Read the Creeper mini... decent. Nothing spectacular. Seems to me they could do a great job with the character, but it was very average.
Read all of the current Sensational Spider-Man run, #23-34, which I loved. Aquire-Sacasa is such a great writer, who mixes real-life drama with the super-hero stuff very well, all while keeping a very classic feel to the comic. Really enjoying Puma and Black Cat as regular occuring characters too!
Aslo read the last two year worth of Y: The Last Man. I couldn't quite remember up to where I had read, so I grabbed 31-now. This series does not lose steam at all, and while I'll be a little sad to see it finish in the next year, I can't wait to see how Vaughan does it!!

Read Walking Dead volumes 1-5 last week and was floored by that. I read the first Ex Machina trade this weekend and dug that too. I look forward to reading more, and I also bought Powers 1-9, Invincible 1-3, and a few Preacher GNs. Busy reading for me

Just got done with Green Arrow-Quiver. I really liked it, slightly confusing at points, but good. Althought admitedly, I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan so i'm likely biased

I picked up Fables from the Arabian Nights story till now. Read half of it (up to issue 50... one of the single best issues I've ever read!!)
I didn't like the Arabian Nights too much the first time around, but I think it's because I had just read 40+ issues in a day or so and I was pretty tired, and not really paying much attention... but this time around it really kicked my ass!
I enjoyed the Wolves story even more the second time too,a lthough I really loved that one the first time.
Going to read 51-now this evening hopefully, although with the new comics coming in, I might skip to a few other things... we'll see what mood I'm in.

Just read Uncanny X-men 483. Brubaker has saved the X-men. Before he came along, there was Austen and then Claremont. The whole x-line was hurting.

agreed!
The Mike Carey run has been good too (although a lot more people seem to bitch about it... I think it's great).
The last Claremont run showed a sign of competence (the death of the grey clan), but I'm worried about his upcoming (and often delayed) run on Exiles, and any issues of New Excalibur he ends up doing.

The Carey run was really good. He seems to have really concentrated on making the charactors feel real. I like how Sabretooth came to them for help, yet he did not stop being himself.

Agreed. He writes some great characters... but I can understand why some people woul[d have found thes tory a bit off.
He's the first person to make me think Rogue is cool. She's been acceptable to annoying almost every single time she's appeared in the past... but she fucking rocks in this run!!

Tonights reading: Jack 6. Kinda good, I could have lived without the inserted humour sections. It was slower paced than the earlier issues.
Superman Confidential 2, 3. I love the art, so classic. The story is a little foggy, but I like the way Lois is making Supes squirm. The bit about Superman almost drowning in lava was great.
Midnighter 3. Funny, not as grim perhaps as Midnighter should be, but a neat premise and he is a hard-ass.
Incredible Hulk 102. King Hulk. hehehe
Ultimate Spiderman 104, clone saga part 8...need I say more.
Ultimate X-men 78. Pretty fair story, poor art, Ben Oliver needs to go back to art school.
Earth's Mightiest Heroes 5. I love this series, it explains so much of what happened in those classic Avengers tales. Of course they knew Yellowjacket was Hank, this shows why they went along with it. I like how much of a jerk they are making Gyrich look. He was a real problem for the Avengers in the 1970's.
Sensational Spider-man 34. This issue was great, probably my favourite read tonight. Black Cat was in need of some charactor development and this issue really worked with that. It was funny to see how petty Aunt May can be sometimes. The Rhino getting drunk was pretty funny too.

As far as X-Men books go... I think that Astonishing X-Men is the best of the 3 core titles. Joss Whedon actually made me like Cyclops... and I thought that was an impossible thing to do lol.
I just read Dark Tower: Gunslinger Born #1 and was amazed by it... I didn't read the books however.
New Avengers #27 was a lot better then I thought it would be, and surprised me at the end... won't spoil it.
The Punisher #44 was good as usual... I can always count on this book to be good every month.
X-23: Target X #3 I'm amazed at how good this book is concidering the premise of the X-23 character. Her origin is almost more interesting then Wolverine's.
X-Men Annual #1 I thought this was the best X-Men book Carey has written so far. A lot of things actually happen in this, and also a revelation or two... and a villain returns that is suppose to be a big part of the next big X-Men event.

Astonishing X-Men is probably the second weakest book I'm buying, after Wolverine: Origins.
I haven't liked any part of that series, and I'm just getting it because it's X-Men, and I'd end up tracking it down later. Fucking Hate Whedon.

I started last night on the Eternals 12-part mini from the 80s... better than I expected to be honest. I'm fond of the characters, but didn't expect this much depth and personality from the various characters, especially from an 80s series... granted, certain aspects of the run still have a definite time-stamp on them, i.e. Ikaris pretending to be a pro-wrestler to ferret out a Deviant who's doing the same (keep in mind this was probably around the time when the WWF had a Saturday morning cartoon ) overall it's better than I expected. and based on issue #6 which I also read recently, so is the current Gaiman run.
