Since we are going to have at least one more week of battles between the Tholians and the Frax, I'd like to play a small squadron-sized battle with the Branthodon against either John or Andrew, I don't care which.
Small Squadron Duel: * 350 BPV. * Weapon Status 2. * Small squadron of at least three ships, with a war cruiser or light cruiser flagship and all other ships being size-4. * You can purchase up to 10% of your fleet's BPV in accessories (so, this would be at most 35 BPV). Drone speed upgrades are paid for out of the fleet's BPV, not as accessories. * The following special variants cannot be selected: carriers, command, commando, drone bombardment ships, escorts, maulers, minesweepers, PF tenders, SFG-equipped ships, survey ships, tugs, x-ships, heavy frigates, heavy war destroyers, or heavy war cruisers. * Standard military ships only, so no police ships, auxiliary ships, monitors, x-ships, or civilian ships. * No fighters (except hybrid carriers), PFs, legendary officers (including outstanding crews and computer controlled ships) can be selected.
I'd really like to see how well they play and this would be a good opportunity for me to see if they would ever be worth considering for a future campaign.
UPDATE: Changed accessories to be based on a percent of the fleet's cost, not taken out of the same pool of money.

i know they ignore sheilds but does that include general reinforcement What ignores shields? Update: Oh wait, you mean certain Branthodon weapons. The claws, tails, and bite ignore shields, including specific and general reinforcement, but they are very short range weapons (range 3 or less for the bite and range 0 for the claws and tails). All other special Branthodon weapons deal damage to shields normally.

And whats the rule on there tail slaps on drones and damage to plasma

Each dragonship can make a certain number of defensive tail slaps per impulse. For example, the Adult Dragsonship (CA) can make three tail slaps per impulse, doing between 10 and 0 damage with each. Each tail slap is resolved on a chart and inflicts an amount of damage based on the die roll (EW has no effect). The damage is treated as phaser damage when used against plasmas.
The dragonship can only make the defensive tail slaps if a seeking weapon enters its hex and not when it enters the seeking weapon's hex (which doesn't really apply when used against weapons that are moving speed 32), but is still used when both things enter the same hex.
The roll is resolved before the seeking weapon impacts its target and happens at that step in the impulse and not as part of the direct fire step.

how come no drone bombardment ship Because not every fleet would have a drone bombardment ship, at least for most races and I basically copied and pasted the rules from the last small squadron battle we ran. If you are playing the Kzinti and you want to use a drone bombardment frigate, I don't have a problem with that. Anything bigger than that would not really fit though (since most races won't be throwing around drone bombardment war cruisers around like they were nothing.

OK kewl and how much does it cost to upgrade a 6 space and a 4 space drone launcher to speed 32

how much does it cost to upgrade a 6 space and a 4 space drone launcher to speed 32 Upgrading a 6-space drone rack to speed-20 would cost 3 BPV and to speed-32 would cost 6 BPV. Upgrading a 4-space drone rack to speed-20 would cost 2 BPV and to speed-32 would cost 4 BPV. If you don't upgrade the rack, the drones are speed-8. Don't forget, speed increases comes out of your fleet BPV of 350, not from the accessory budget of 10%. That said, all other drone upgrades aside from speed (such as ATG, special warheads, etc.) come out of the accessory budget. I'm sure SFB has some reason to put drone upgrades in the force budget, not the accessory budget, but I can only guess what it is.

the reason for that would be simple they increase the ships over all effectivness and if they came drom accessories it would limit the number of special drones and tb's shuttles ect the ships could have and since drone speed increase the ships over all effectivness it makes since to put it in the forced budget

That would be my guess as well, as refits are handled the same way (including the Plasma Sabot refit) and the UIM module available to the Lyrans and the Klingons, as well as fighters
All those things enhance a ship's general combat ability, while things like extra boarding parties might never be useful in a given battle.

I'll run the charts and give a hand with the campaign game... hopefully we can finish things off this week and process a few turns next week.

You never know. If Jason's BCH fleet handily defeats Chris's fleet, he'll want to continue on to the CCP led Tholian fleet that you were fighting last week. Given that Chris will surely bring reinforcements in next turn (probably more than Jason can bring in), if i were Jason, I'd want to continue on with that fight to and take out that heavy cruiser.
