I just read the Less Than Heroes TP. I quite liked it. It was refreshing just how much the Threshold sucked. It felt a little like Mystery Men.

I read a few new comics this week... new exiles, always good, world war hulk was amazing, too good in fact... that shouldn't have been #1 of the series, hahaha.
I was trying to read all the 52s to get caught up, but I haven't touched them in a few days... have to get back to that... possibly on monday.

Dynamo 5 #1-4
Decent alt. super hero book by Image. The concept is different... a famous super-hero dies... his window discovers that he's been cheating on her pretty consistently with anyone who will get in his bed for a long long time, and tracks down his illegitimate children in hopes that they've got powers to help fill the void that her husband left in their cities defense when he died.
The Dialogue has a few "dry" moments, and while the creator has tried to give each character a distinct personality, sometimes it feels like he had a hat with various "traits" and just drew a few for each character.
But, even with that, I'm enjoying the comic, and was curious about each subsequent issue afterwards.
Spawn #165-168 With #164, Spawn "won" the battle that was happening between heaven and hell (you find out that God and the Devil were both kind of evil selfish SOBs and were more or less squabling like small children over the earth) but paid a great price by having memories of Wanda that he had essentially hidden frmo himself revealed to him.
He now has the power to return to her, but realises she wouldn't take him back if he did.
165 was a side story about Mandarin Spawn, a popular figurine in the Spawn Toys line. A decent story about vengeance and karma, but had nothing to do with the main storyline.
166-168 starts a brand new chapter in the Spawn saga, and is almost a reboot of the whole Spawn "world". The first arc is essentially to bring back Clown/Violator, but with a new artist onboard (David Hine is still writing, and doing an amazing job), he gives Spawn a more realistic look. I've found in the past, any artist they've brought onboard (Angel Medina, Greg Capullo) have just been MacFarlane clones, and didn't add much to the look. This new guy, Brian Haberlin, does a nice job of drawing Hine's twisted stories. Some of the stuff that happens in this book is some of the darkest stuff I've seen in print in a long time, and it just keeps happening... but in the end, it's not just for the shock, it accentuates the story very nicely.
Read the new Cap issue... Winter Soldier goes after Cap's shield, because he doesn't believe that Stark should have it. Strong hints that he's going to try to kill Stark, blaming him for Cap's death. This title is just really the best thing going right now.
Amazing Spider-Man is still going strong, with Spidey finally reaching Kingpin (who is responsible for Aunt May being hospitalized from a gunshot). Next issue should prove interesting!
Sensational Spider-Man #38 marks the return of Eddie Brock, and possibly his return as Venom too... but the path being taken is certainly a diffrent one. After two suicide attemps, and his still ongoing battle with cancer, Brock currently looks more like a frail 50 year old man than his previous football player frame.

Read the 10 issues of the current Wetworks series.
Good, but not amazing. I guess the concept isn't as good as I remembered it. I really like the idea behind the main guys themselves... and I remember the original series being one of the better written early image titles (now I know they didn't hav emuch competition, but their was -some- good stuff), especially early on with their origins and stuff. Seems to me it was possibly one of the few titles that bothered building a story instead of jumping right into the action.
I guess this time around, they kind of expect you to have read the previous ones and already know all this stuff.
#10 was actually the begining of a new arc, and the first issue where they've tried to have a bit more character story, which was cool, and reason enough to keep me reading. I guess with the first 9 they really wanted to get things going, which is fine, but it may have lasted a little long.

JUst finished the fourth trade of walking dead. I don't think I have ever read a series that has so many oh my god moments. You never know what will happen when you turn the page. Usually it is really bad. Its great!

I have been really getting in touch with my comic book nerd side lately, so I've been reading as many as I can get my hands on. In the past two weeks, the most noteworthy of them are: The Walking Dead 1-39 [I've read this series 4 times through so far, just so that I can recap and relive each wonderful moment.] Ed the Happy Clown 1-7 [An amazing bit of Canadian literature, I must say.] Koroshiya Ichi, aka, Ichi the Killer 1-10 Battle Royale 1-15 [Another Japanese series, equal if not greater in the amount of disturbing imagery inside its pages.] Loaded Bible: Jesus vs Vampires 1-2 [Despite the seemingly joking title, this series appears to be taking itself seriously and it is shaping up to be a good read.] Deadenders 1-16 [Surreal and well-written science fiction/post-apocolyptic comic with a surprising amount of realism in its characters and dialogue.] Marvel Zombies 1-5, and vs Army of Darkness 1-4 [No comment needed, way too wonderful and odd for words.] Demo 1-12 Night of the Living Dead - The Beginning 1-3 and Escape of the Living Dead - Airborne 1-3 [Horrible, horrible comics, with foolish and uninteresting storylines attempted to be compensated for with extreme nudity and cheap gore. Essentially, the worst B horror movie you've ever seen.] Tank Girl 1-4 and Tank Girl: The Gifting 1 [Tank Girl is a terribly confusing, yet artistically inviting, and at most times quite funny. While I prefer the film adaptation, I did enjoy reading these obtuse comics quite a bit.]
Other comics I have read recently: The Maxx 1-14 [Looking forward to picking up some more!] 52 1-5 28 Days Later - The Aftermath Fuan No Tane Mino Manara's The Snowman Bartman 1-6 Who Wants To Be A Superhero? - Feedback 1 Rising Stars - Voices of the Dead 1-6 The Witching Hour 1-3 The Necromancer 1-6
And of course, although I read this a few months back, it has to be the best series I've ever read; Jeff Smith's Bone. I have the complete collection in one volume borrowed on permanent hiatus from a friend, and I am working on my second run-through of this amazing story.

World War Hulk #4 had some pretty rough art in it. I got the feeling they were rushed finishing it.
Putting the heroes (villians?) in the arena was kind of dumb too. I guess they are going heavy on the irony in this series.

Just finished reading the original Suicide Squad run. Awesome I liked it as much as any of the titles I am reading now. Made me feel bad that they killed off the original Captain Boomarang. Amanda Waller was written amazingly, for those that don't like her this is the series that will change your minds. Hopefully after the present mini series they will start an ongoing.

Been actually up to date on all my weekly reading lately. Messiah Complex is easily in my favorites. I'm really enjoying the Amazing Spider-Man Brand New Day stuff till now. Booster Gold and Thunderbolts are still both going strong, and near the top of my pile when they come in. Daredevil, as always, is fantastic. Really been enjoying a little indie title called Atomic Robo... kind of has a Hellboy feel to it, but a little less dark. Written by the guy who used to do the 8-Bit Theatre comic strip!

I'm pretty new into comics, but i'm fairly happy. I've read the dark tower novels and i just finished the comics. Well, the collection anyway I recieved the first issue today, and have them all LS. Anyway from reading the books then the comics I'd pretty much have to say their amazing, it's verrrry well done, wasn't disapointed at all. I also read the Heroes graphic novel which wa pretty good, and 50% of due to imperfections.

Please don't yell if me if this should be in a different thread. But since i'm new to comics, what would be some good comics to get into? I'm thinking about SandMan, and The Batman Returns as far as graphic novels.
