So, given the small bits of confusion of the battle last night, I think we should have more time to discuss the battle for next week in its own thread.
I understand the desire to make a valid "campaign" attack group battle, but that is very hard to do given different fleet doctrine, different races and how their fleets operate, and the huge effect that researching special projects can have. For example, if we said "let's have a destroyer-led patrol group battle", the kind of patrol groups that the Romulans would field with the CR6 destroyers are vastly different then the more numerous but smaller patrol groups that the Federation would field with its CR4 destroyers.
Given that, I think we should just pick a BPV value, add some restrictions, and then play a fun battle just for kicks. My suggestion for next week is the following:
Patrol Battle:
* 350 CPV
* Flagship must be a war cruiser or light cruiser and all other ships are size-4.
* No fighters or PFs (except for hybrid carriers).
* No police ships, auxiliary ships, civilian ships, or X-ships.
* Following all other Campaign v10 - 6.8 Fleet Limit rules (but not command point limits).
* All accessories (like drone speed upgrades and T-Bombs) are drawn from the above CPV.
* All ship classes and types not excluded above can be taken, such as heavy war destroyers, heavy war cruisers, and stuff like that.
That should give each player roughly 3-4 ship squadron to fly around with and it ensures that there are no big mismatches like one fleet with a heavy battle cruiser, one fleet with no size-3 ships, and fleet with only size-3 ships.
