The new campaign is not going to start till the following session (we'll pick provinces and make initial exploration rolls at that time), so this week why don't we try something a little bigger than before: a small squadron battle.
Each player will have 360 BPV to buy units with the following restrictions: * They must buy at least 3 ships and no more than 6. * Only one ship can be size-3 and can't be larger than a Heavy Cruiser / Battle Cruiser (no BCHs). * No more than one legendary officer / outstanding crew, excluding ace fighters. * No PFs * No X-Tech * No mega-fighters
Like before, people are encouraged to play races they don't normally play for variety. You might have a favorite for campaigns, but these single battles give you an opportunity to play a fun battle with a new race.
We'll be coming in at WS-2 (all but the final turn of arming is complete for multi-turn arming weapons).

Battle Forces: Andrew: Ryn: 2x FF, 1x CMV (CL carrier), 12 fighters Kevin: Andromedan: 1x VIP (FF), 1x COB (DD), 1x EXP (CW) John: Klingon: 1x D6D, 2x E6 (DD-DW) Kirk: Romulan: 1x KRT, 2x BH (DD)
The battle featured a few asteroids in the middle of the map, but the asteroids had paths through them if you maneuvered carefully. John started in the NW corner, Andrew in the NE corner, Kevin in the SW corner, and Kirk in the SE corner.
John was feeling exhausted from working a lot recently, so he decided not to maneuver during the battle, sitting in one stop at speed 0 and taking shots at whoever came close.
Kirk spent about half the time cloaked and maneuvered on the south side of the asteroid field, but this kept him out of the fight until near the end when he was forced to split his ships around a T-Bomb minefield laid by Andrew.
Andrew used his fighters and a drogue to release a large number of TEM missiles. He was maneuvering closer to the center of the map until we remembered that his transporting disrupts his fire control, so his ships and fighters stopped moving so he could control his large number of missiles.
I moved from my corner towards the center of the map, but all of the TEMs launched by Andrew were targeted on me. I managed to destroy a number of them and I used the asteroid field itself to avoid fire from others, but their constant fire along with long range fire from John filled up all of my PA Panels, both front and back. I also destroyed a number of Andrew's assault fighters which transported directly in front of my ships.
Not wanting to get closer to Andrew's stationary ships, I decided to close with John, who had already fired a large number of his weapons at a longer range. I crippled one of his E6 ships, but some very good rolls from the TEM missiles ripped through my rear PA Panel and did a large number of internals on my main ship. Although I wasn't out of the fight, I was damaged.
At that point, we wrapped up the game with John withdrawing from the battle, Kirk splitting his forces to go around a T-Bomb minefield laid by Andrew and me taking a long circling route away from the corner I was trapped in.
