Before we start the next campaign in September, we'll be playing a few one-shot battles.
People are encouraged to play races they don't normally play for variety. You might have a favorite for campaigns, but these single battles give you an opportunity to play a fun battle with a new race.
Since we don't have new players kicking around that I know of, I won't be bringing a group of ships to choose from, you have to select your ship by yourself.
I would suggest people bring ships for the following point values: 125 155 180
The only restrictions is no X-tech ships.
Also, I think we should come in at WS-2 (all but the final turn of arming is complete for multi-turn arming weapons).

I was thinking we'd score points based on internals (like before), except this time, you can't score more points than the target has internals (no more 100 point damage to the 1 remaining internal ship), but all damage done in the same step gives each player those points.
So, if a drone dealing 12 points and a plasma dealing 30 points hits the same target and that target only took 10 points before exploding, both players would get 10 points for the kill because both hit the target during the same step (it doesn't matter which is resolved first for purposes of scoring points).

Oh yeah, the BPV totals listed above includes everything, including fighters, legendary officers (be reasonable here), refits, drone upgrades, etc.

Had a good battle last night.
* John played a tricked out Klingon F6 * Higgins played a Federation CA * Andrew played a Ryn Heavy Cruiser (Omega 4) * Kevin played a Branthodon Adult Dragon (Omega 4) * Chris arrived late, but joined with a tricked out Lyran Light Cruiser
We each started in opposite corners and the early movements had me (Kevin) and John closing on each other while Andrew moved towards Higgins making him turn away pretty quickly. As I closed with John, I launched a dragonfire plasma, which forced John to turn away putting him on a direct path towards Higgins.
As John and Higgins closed with each other, drones were launched and destroyed, but some weak fire from Higgins (caused by strong ECM on John's ship), left him vulnerable to a number of Type-4 drones, which gutted his ship.
Using his Quantum Transporters, Andrew closed some distance with my ship and fired a few weapons and some of his special TEM missiles, then he transportered three T-Bombs directly into my path to him (range 15 transporters rock!). Not wanting to take the damage, I turned away. This gave Andrew the opportunity he needed to close with John (who had already fired his most threatening weapons) and fire at him at point blank range. John's ship was gutted by the attack.
Chris was moving in to close on John's crippled ship and Andrew's expended cruiser, but we had to stop there due to time. My ship was taking an unfortunately long route around the T-Bombs Andrew laid, which would have kept me out of the battle. Although I would probably have faced Chris after his pass on John and Andrew.
Scoring internals, John had 89 points and Andrew had 79.
It was a good game and people made some interesting choices in what ships to bring. I had a blast.
